Ziam is a frustrating experience of two halves. The initial setup builds an effective, claustrophobic dread that suggests a sophisticated thriller, but the narrative eventually collapses under the weight of its own absurdity. Once the "aquatic undead" elements take center stage, the film loses its grounded tension and devolves into a concept that feels more silly than scary.
