There have been plenty of movies where the child characters really pushed my buttons, but The End of Oak Street (2026) took those buttons and smashed them into absolute oblivion. Holy heck, the kids in this movie sucked.

Directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced by J.J. Abrams, this sci-fi thriller follows a family whose 1982 suburban neighborhood gets transported through a wormhole straight into the age of dinosaurs. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star as the parents, Denise and Greg Platt. Their children are played by Maisy Stella and Christian Convery, and I genuinely have absolutely nothing good to say about them. They were insufferable from start to finish.

However, if you can look past the infuriating youth, the rest of the movie was surprisingly fun. The absolute highlight of the entire film is when the dad, played by McGregor, gets completely eaten by an Allosaurus while trying to protect his family. It was a fantastic, wildly entertaining cinematic moment. Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway is just on screen doing classic Anne Hathaway things, and it works perfectly for the tone they were going for.

I also have to praise the visual effects. The movie looked exceptionally good, even on the tiny cinema screen where I watched it. The filmmakers brought in Industrial Light & Magic to handle the dinosaurs, and it really shows. The creatures are detailed, terrifying, and surprisingly scientifically accurate with their fluffy feathers.

Overall, I do not think I would explicitly tell you to go out of your way to watch it. But if you do stumble into a theater, it will not be a bad experience.
