I have watched a lot of bad movies. It comes with the territory. But Hidden (2015) achieved something I genuinely did not think was possible โ it made me feel personally targeted by its own awfulness.
Every decision this film makes is the wrong one. The child character is not accidentally annoying โ they are precisely, surgically engineered to be the most frustrating presence on screen at all times. There is no other explanation for how consistently irritating they manage to be across the entire runtime.
I went in with genuine hope. The premise had something. I was ready to be surprised.
And then came the plot twist. Which I will not spoil. But I will say this โ a good plot twist reframes everything you just watched and makes the journey feel worthwhile. This one made me more annoyed than I already was. In its final moments, the film found a way to be worse than it had been for the previous hour and a half. That takes a special kind of effort.
The title is the only good thing about it. This movie absolutely should have stayed hidden.
