Abduction is a frustrating example of a film that has all the right ingredients—a legendary director in John Singleton and a stellar supporting cast—but fails because of its lackluster lead. While Taylor Lautner’s physical dedication is impressive and his stunts provide the only real highlights, his performance is too stiff to carry the emotional weight of a "life is a lie" thriller. It’s a derivative, poorly written attempt at a franchise-starter that feels more like a catalogue shoot than a movie. If you aren't there specifically for the parkour, there isn't much to see
